Flow Meters > Accessories > Signal Conditioners
TM, TS & TN Series meters are available with an internal pulser. In this configuration it is a gland-less flow meter, which provides a non-scaled pulse output. Depending upon model size, you get from 7700 to 51 pulse per gallon (2035 to 13.5 ppl).

Depending upon system requirements, this pulse signal may have to travel significant distances, which can require an amplifier. In other cases, the receiving instrument may require a scaled pulse signal (such as 10 pulses per gallon or liter), or a 4-20 mA analog signal, which is possible with different signal conditioners.

In some cases there is no good fit between available models, and actual flow rate. For example, for flow ranging from 0.5 to 15 GPM, we have to use model TM06 rated 2-20 GPM. To improve on meter accuracy when flow rate is below 2 GPM, a linearizer (multi-point calibration) would be recommended.

PIA-300
This signal conditioner isolates and amplifies pulse signals, so they can travel up to 2500' (750 m). It also functions as a pulse splitter, which is usefully when you need displays in two locations. Available in NEMA 3R (with TM Series only), NEMA 4X & NEMA 7/4 enclosures. Data Sheet

PAC
This 2-wire loop powered signal conditioner converts meter pulse signal to an analog (4-20 mA) output. Minimum frequency for a steady analog signal is 9 Hz. Available for DIN rail mounting, also in NEMA 4X & NEMA 7/4 enclosures. Data Sheet

SCL

This signal conditioner has 3 functions, which can be used singly or in combination:

  • It is a scaler, which can scale meter pulse signal to either lower or higher values.
  • It is a calibrator. By adjusting two switches with 100 settings, you can calibrate the meter over a 3% range.
  • It is a linearizer. We can correct for a generic accuracy curve for a given model size, or we can correct based on actual testing of a specific flow meter. The latter involves additional testing & programming fees.
